Faith communities often play a key role in recognizing warning signs and offering guidance. By fostering open conversations about mental health, faith communities can create a compassionate environment where individuals feel safe to seek help. Soul Shop is a training specific for faith communities to help start the conversation about suicidal desperation, respond with support and help facilitate connections to maintain safety.</p> <p> This training is seven hours and registration costs include a participant manual and supplemental materials of community resources.</p> <p> <em>This training will not equip you to be a mental health specialist.</em></p> Thu, 08 Jan 2026 09:00:00 +0000 Trauma Awareness Training http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/68254 <p> The Trauma Education Center at Andrews University will be presenting a free trauma workshop on Sept. 12 and 13 at the St. Joseph Adventist Church in St. Joseph, Michigan.</p> <p> The workshop will consider questions such as:</p> <ul> <li> What is trauma?</li> <li> How does it affect you and those around you?</li> <li> What can we do to heal?</li> </ul> <p> <strong>Time</strong>: Friday, Sept. 12, 7–8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 13, 3–7 p.m. (evening meal included)</p> <p> <strong>Location</strong>: St. Joseph Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1201 Maiden Ln, St. Joseph, Michigan</p> <p> The workshop is funded by a grant, so there is no charge for the sessions.
