New Apple iOS and Sierra versions work with Secure

ITS: Chief Information Officer | Posted on April 7, 2017

New versions of Apple iOS (10.3) and Sierra (10.12.4) are now available that will connect with the university’s Secure wireless network.  It is important to ensure that your Apple device is at the appropriate version and then follow the instructions below to discontinue utilizing the Guest wireless and return to the Secure wireless.

While we encourage you to make this change as soon as is convenient, we will continue to allow use of the Guest wireless network through the end of the Spring semester (May 7).

If you have difficulty connecting Apple devices to the Secure wireless network, you may get help by visiting the ITS Service Desk in the Bookstore or on the website at andrews.edu/itscc.

Thank you for your patience with the difficulties caused by these version changes.

For iPhones/iPads: Update your device to version 10.3 or higher and follow these steps:

·         Forget au-guest - go into your network settings and click on the “i” with the circle around it that is located next to au-guest.  Select “forget”.

·         Connect to au-secure - go into your network settings, click on au-secure, and then enter your Andrews username and password.  If it says “unable to connect” click “dismiss” and then click “join” a second time.  The second attempt will go through.  Select “Trust” certificate when prompted.

For Macbooks: Update your device to version 10.12.4 or higher and follow these steps:

·         Forget au-guest - go into your network settings, click “advanced”, select au-guest, and click “-“ to remove it.

·         Connect to au-secure - go into your network settings, click on au-secure, and then enter your Andrews username and password.

Currently, the only versions of iOS that are NOT compatible with au-secure are iOS 10.1 and 10.2.  The versions of MacOS not compatible with au-secure are versions of Sierra that have not been upgraded to 10.12.4 or higher.
